I really love how this one came out, particularly that middle panel. Very colorful and with a lot going on, really does a lot to stand out.
Panels of that nature across both comics tend to do a lot for me, since other than the basic idea of what needs to be shown off I generally don't have much to offer as to what exactly to throw in, unless it's just some stray ideas generally related to setting up something later.
So yeah. Very nice work on this one.
Funny story, this actually was don't before I saw what Lance had in mind in the last page. That's why it looks so different when comparing to 2 shops but I tried to make it look less noticeable.
If you take into account what happened in the last panel this would probably take place someone around the time that Jason and Marina first met or when Jason was sitting on that log but before the next panel when he was being toasted by his friends. If the characters look a little younger then that's what I was going for.
In regards to the really big panel, now you know where Jason got that shiny chain around his belt. And this was the last test that all the finalists go through. It's enchanted to fight back until some can break through the barrier and retrieve the chain, hence the title of this contest "Fight for the Crown." Originally, the chain was supposed to transform into some type of Octopus like monster, but after a little consideration I decided to got a different route to give it that perpetual energy gyro look. A good chance to see many random characters trying to fight for the claim to the crown last year.
Who do you think would win? That Elf, the Hat Guy, the Witch, or the Magic Knight? Or it could be none of the above. Don't you just hate that option in a question? Really through off the confidence of right an wrong. Like that episode of Dexter's Lab "Dexter's Assistant," "The truth is Dexter is that they were ALL wrong."
