Christ, think this went horribly right....
Heh... Yeah, new character, Man Of The Times. Don't wanna spoil too much, but idea going into him is that he does certain things for the wrong reasons, and those reasons make him a massive douchebag. Thus, when designing him we worked to try and make him the biggest douche possible. I know that's hard to top even just in the realm of superhero comics when you have people like Guy Gardner and Pre-Character-Development Tony Stark (and even post-development, he's sorta a loveable douchebag), but we aimed for it and hopefully hit it.
Kinda started out with the basic design, then Martin told me about this one wrestler with this vest that had peacock feathers out of the shoulders and... yeah, Christ. Just tried to milk out the world's biggest asshole. Imagine it'll only get worse with every appearance. At least I hope so.
And here are the comments from out beloved Martin. ^^
Ugh, naturally, my Internet's acting up, probably relating to the power outage I spent most of last week dealing with. sure it'll be on soon.
So then, yeah, Man of the Times! This guy's weird. Naturally we'll be seeing a lot of him down the line, but since he was planned to come later I'm not really sure when he'll next turn up. Y'know, besides next week's page.
Funny thing about the vest, I just thought of that thing off the top of my head. Adam asked me if I wanted to change his design any, I said I wanted more outlandish clothes and said fur coat, then I randomly remembered that thing and told him to look it up. Went with my own color scheme on it at least.
Anyway, everything from the outfit to the setting is designed to make this guy look like a douche, albeit a possibly lovable one. Is he? Stick around and one day you might find out!
Hoo boy what a weirdo, Sareena and Misty seem far from impressed and in the last panel they seem to be asking each other "Is this guy for real?".
Kinda the intent there. ^^ Gladja're enjoying.
